Since we homeschool, we had every reason to celebrate the beginning of the school year, especially when that means we can get together with our friends! I know many of you think that homeschoolers are weird.. and some are, just not us. We're totally cool, if I say so myself. On Monday (the first day of school here in Vegas) we had a NOT back to school party. We had relay races, jump rope contests, lots of playtime, a BBQ lunch and popsicles to boot. It was a grand time.
I really miss the old group of homeschoolers in Spokane, but there are great people everywhere. This group has a lot of young kids and tons of boys! We are going to have a lot of fun this year.
What I am stressing about it music lessons, since I have no talent myself. I really want to find a great piano teacher (for me too!) Any suggestions? I wish I would have stuck with my lessons when I was 7! My mom told me I would regret it someday...

not this cute anymore!

SOunds so fun, it will be a great year for you! A ton of work, but you are so great at that it ain't no thang.
By the way, I'll vouch for you, totally not weird homeschoolers!
Way to go Mom of the year award goes to Janet. You are one that can get so much done. I wish I could have some of that. Your kids sound brilliant. Way to go. Can't wait to see what else they are doing. Love the school party. I would love to get all of our boys together some time it would be a blast.
Janet--you are inspiring me. I seriously want to know how you do it. How do you keep up with educating your boys? Where do you get the curriculum? I have so many questions...so please have your report on my desk by Monday. Fine, it's a Holiday--I'll let it slide until Tuesday.
Janet, so fun to hear about your homeschooling plans. I'm pretty strict about the basics (reading, writing, math) but have enjoyed being flexible with the extra stuff like history, science, art, etc. For those subjects I make plans for the year that I loosely follow, but don't feel bound to them if my boys want to follow a bend in the road somewhere.
Oh and piano? Let's just say I have no excuse not to teach my kids, but for some reason I really can't get into teaching them myself. It's weird because I can teach them all the other subjects, but for some reason piano just doesn't work out!!! What's going on?
