Cool things about Lukey:

He was the BEST baby ever! His was born less than 2 hours after I arrived at the hospital (which was about 3 hours after my water broke.) He started sleeping through the night at 4 weeks old.. and has always been a great sleeper.

When he was little, he would make the silliest faces on command. Our favorite was the "bitter beer face." He would turn around in sacrament meeting and get everyone laughing.

His first words were "Benny, where are you?" at 18 months. He didn't say ANYTHING before that.. not mama or dada or anything! The minute he started talking, he was speaking in full sentences. People would always say to me, "He speaks so well for his age." I would reply with, "He just started talking last week!"

He knew the entire alphabet before his 2nd birthday (without an official lesson.)

He was fluently reading before his 3rd birthday.. at 5 he is a speed reader and amazes us everyday with his comprehension skills!

He gets super car sick every time we go anywhere. We are always prepared with "throw up cups." I cannot tell you how many times we have washed his car seat! yuck!

He is [by far] our most sensitive guy. He gets his feelings hurt easily and hates it when we raise our voices. I tease him that he is my little girl. He is always ready to cuddle, hold hands, and play with my hair. He can read people easily and just knows how you're feeling.

He has 'superhero' hearing skills. As a baby, the nurses said he tested off the charts-- and even now, he covers his ears all the time because it "hurts his ears."

He's quick and witty. He keeps us on our toes. When cracking a joke, he never smiles-- he just spits it out and keeps a straight face. We laugh at him everyday!

A few of our favorite Luke moments:

Luke is non-competitive.. he has never cared to win or be better than someone else. It was Ben's turn to have the cherished blue cup at a meal and he teased Luke saying, "I have the blue cup!" Luke turned to him and said, "Well, I have a blue bum." That was the end of the conversation. (Sept. 2005-- age 2.5)

In nursery, he was asked what his favorite primary song was. He replied with "I hope they call me to the temple." His teachers thought he was mixed up, but I knew he was messing with them. When we got home, I asked Luke to tell daddy what his favorite song is.. he said, "I hope they call me on the telephone." (almost 3)

During a hand raising game at dinner Dad teased, "If you want to spank Luke's bum, raise your hand." Without missing a beat, Luke replied, "If you want to spank dad's hand, raise your bum." And followed by raising his tush in the air.. with absolutely no sign of a smile.. (May 2006-- age 3) [for another hilarious and pg13 rated quote, click here)

We LOVE our little brown-eyed boy and can't believe he's already five!!

Oh man, this one really cracked me up. I had to go get Kam, and he started crying he was laughing so hard at the "PG 13 story." I love when you quote your crazy boys.

Jake was doing great with sleeping, until he got so sick he couldn't breath out of his nose! He was doing a lot better tonight, so I let him cry to sleep again. Surprisingly, he didn't cry for very long at all. I think he is relieved to start getting more sleep again (and so am I). Thanks for asking. You are awesome.

I didn't know that when he started speaking it was full sentences?? and I didn't know about his incredible hearing?? Alphabet by 2 and reading by 3... amazing! Maybe you guys can help teach Avaree when you come. You're a great Mom and you make awesome cakes!
