I'd like to buy a vowel.

Today I tried out to be a contestant on the Wheel of Fortune. Yes, I really did. America's most popular game show is coming to Vegas in July to tape 4 weeks of shows. I tried recruiting a few friends to go with me, but no one else was interested... including my husband who took my kids hiking instead. So I went solo.

The tryouts were fun. It wasn't so much about solving the puzzles as it was showing off your personality. And even though I am a superb puzzle-solver, it's the personality I like to deliver. When asked what I like to do for fun, instead of giving the boring answers that everyone else gave (reading, bike riding, cruising around on the strip) I told them about the time I did the Heimlich on a total stranger.. Everyone cheered when I told them he was choking on a big piece of fried chicken. It was a toss-up between that and the fact that I am the world champion Starburst opener..

This was the first round of auditions. They will have call-backs in June and then the official taping in July. I am not holding my breath or anything, but you never know........ I might just win my million dollars after all. Oh, and one week of taping is for Sweethearts only... you better believe I will drag my husband on that stage if we get chosen. There are certain sacrifices you have to make when you are married to me.

If Vanna White calls my cell, I will make sure to let you know. I think I have a good chance, considering that 80% of the people trying out were over the age of 80.. keep your fingers crossed for me.

Oh man Janet! If I would have known I sooooo would have gone with you! I am a HUGE Wheel of Fortune FAN and I LOVE to solve puzzles!! I heard they were coming to Vegas and auditioning but I was too chicken to go by myself. I hope you make the call-backs!

That is hilarious! I did that same thing in Wisconsin while we were living in Chicago. It was so funny, dang if only I have the starburst power I may have gotten in! I can just see you and Aaron up there him rolling his eyes and you jumping up and down hugging him! That would be the funniest thing I have ever seen on tv. FOR SURE! I hope Vanna gives you a call!

If your in-person personality is anything like your blogging personality (I'm sure it's better), you're a shoe in!

Good luck! And I totally would have gone with you!

Ooh, so jealous! I was (seriously) just looking at how to audition for Wheel last week. I didn't look at the schedule for The Bus, or else I might have been down there with you. Bummer. But good luck--you for sure have a better tv personality than I could ever hope to have. Good work, and I wish you luck! Looking forward to watching you.

How great would it be if you really get to go on WOF... that's awesome... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

How cool would that be!!! AND you would be so cool to watch on TV!
How could they not pick you. I so would not be surprised if they pick you. What? They are going to find a person more fun than you? Not a chance.
I look forward to it :)
Have you considered auditioning for other shows...amazing race? You and Aaron would be awesome on that.
(Jason once sent in an audition tape for Survivor but never heard from them.)

Suz-- I have only seen about 3 episodes of Amazing Race.. and every time i do, I stress OUT! The traveling would be awesome, but you never get time to enjoy it. I have nightmares of Aaron and I on that show together and we always want to get divorced by the end.

I could totally see you on Survivor, though. You would kick-A.

I think you'll definitely get a call. Personality is the name of the game for those shows. (Once, a bunch of us went to Price is Right, and the kid from our group who got called to come on down was the one who was acting like a spaz and getting everyone to do the wave while we were waiting in line. They must have spies.) One of my friends from high school was on Wheel when we were in college- she won some great stuff! (But she wasn't the big winner.) So, hopefully you'll get on and win a dream vacation or bucketloads of cash. If you don't (or even if you do), I think we should organize a girls' trip to LA for a day and take a group down to Price is Right. I'd make the trip for sure.

I think I will be mighty surprised if you don't hear back from them. You're way too fun a person to not make it on that show... seriously! I've always sworn I would try to make it on WOF. Especially if they do some sort of daddy/daughter episode. My dad and I rock the socks off all the contestants every time I watch it with him. I'm just loving all over the fact that you had the guts to try out. I talk big, but I'm sure I'd never dare to actually audition. Good luck! I can't wait to hear the update on this one!

i'd be there in a second!!! if you don't get on, there is something seriously wrong with the producers. and if aaron doesn't go with you, i'll be your sweetheart... i almost always solve the puzzle before the players... so i'm good... real good... ;) i have been planning to be on the price is right for about 20 years now, and will, oh yes, i will. my sister lost the show-case show down while she was a student at ricks and i have to redeem her. who thinks a regular convertible costs 50,000?!! silly girl! anyways, good-luck!! i wish they would come to canada!

Oh how fun. You would be brilliant at that. You better make it or I"ll be T.O'd.

Ben says that if Aaron declines the offer to go on the show that he will totally go with you. And trust me he is pretty quick at solving those puzzles.
We always think we would do so good at couples Wheel of Fortune. I hope you make it.
C'mon big money, big money, big money!

Maybe I could be your "sweetheart" for the show!! Afterall it is Vegas and they have all kinds of couples- and I'm awesome at puzzles :)
I think the starburst thing should seal the deal for you.

Sorry I said no way, but I am not a good puzzler and don't have a great personality so I would have just dragged you down...hahaha. That is awesome, I am sure Vanna will be calling...why not! (Next time you've GOT to show off your Starburst talent, I am very impressed with that (and a little creeped out.)

Being on Wheel is totally by dream. We watch as a family every night, have wheel watcher id numbers, and play the game on the computer. We've decided we need to keep practicing for a while so that we can rake in the cash! I know we are total nerds...

You're a shoe in. Personality is definitely what they're looking for. I'm with Wendy - let's plan a trip to TPIR.

If they don't call you back, they are insane! I agree with Sabrina--if (I mean WHEN) they call you back, bring a few starbursts to show off for them. That will seal the deal!
