skin heads

I typically don't dig the buzz... but in the summer, it's the only way to go. No more bed-heads, a lot less sweat and a little more sunscreen. It's amazing how cute their expressions become when they're all FACE. I had to take close-ups just to show you how long their eyelashes are-- but because I am not a skilled photographer (and because I told them only ONE picture each) you can't really tell. One of these days- after the husband dies- I am going to put mascara on them. It's a shame to waste such gorgeous lashes on boys.

I cut everyone's hair at this house. I figure I can practice on them while they are young and when they're old enough, if they don't like what they get, they can go elsewhere. It's a touchy subject when cutting the husband's tho... I don't really like being responsible for his hair. He was cursed with hair that sticks straight up, no matter what you do.. so keeping it short is the best solution. Haircutting has to be frequent and even though it's saved us a few pennies over the years, it's also caused some fights. A couple of years ago, we resolved that spending the money for someone else to cut his hair was worth our marriage. He went into the salon, forked out the dough and asked me to fix it when he got home. He has been really nice ever since because I am telling you, his hair isn't easy to cut. Ben was lucky enough to be cursed with the same hair. I am crossing my fingers that he will marry someone as talented and patient as his mother.

Wow, you posted this as I was checking your blog. It's so nice NOT to have to comb hair and your boys do have BEAUTIFUL lashes!

Your shirtless boys made me think... you spend hours out in the Las Vegas sun and we all know how much you love the pool. I realize that you sunscreen them but how do you not have a bunch of little brown or sunburned boys? Your sunscreen must be incredible. My boys are always sporting farmers tans and raccoon sunglasses tans!

Don't get me started on eyelashes wasted on little boys! My daughter is going to realize one day very soon that she was totally gipped and have to beat up her brothers!

Wow, you do a really great job on their haircuts! Boy hair is hard to cut and make it look right, an d I never would have guessed those weren't done by a pro. Maybe you should start charging.

And I love how your husband came crawling back to you after the "pro" messed up his hair.

We've got the summer hair cut salon open in our backyard now too! You prob can't tell that I cut Beckham's hair because it looks like a lion's mane, but I try to keep it trimmed. I figure I'll keep it long until he can ask me to cut it. Your boys look so different from each other.

Avon Lady,

I do use really thick sunscreen, and after having an albino-child like Zack, I have to be strict. But after living in Vegas, even though it's hot, we don't get burned like we used to in UT.. it's a higher elevation there and I think the sun is harder on your skin.

Ben and Zack are going to be covered in freckles very soon, though.

Love the haircuts! Ethan recently went short, but I have yet to corner Jake or Ryan (who says the girls love his curls...ugh! all the more reason to cut it, I say!)

don't you sometimes wish you could do that in the summer? i don't think I'd dare, but maybe some day...
