We go through way too many worksheets in this house. It started out as a struggle for all of us and it has now become something quite enjoyable. My boys know I won't back down just because it's boring-- but they also know they don't have to write down the "right" answer. I am glad they can be themselves around me, knowing I won't scold them for being
creative (for lack of a better term) but I often wonder what they would do if I sent them to school and they had such homework given to them by a "real" teacher. Anyway, I don't share their silly answers often because although they're funny to me, they probably aren't to you. But this worksheet has a particular reference to yesterday's post, so I thought I would scan them in.

I don't believe Luke really thinks girls are smelly. He's all about getting a reaction from his brothers. And I guess calling anything smelly is funny, especially a she.

Perhaps I should have thought through more clearly before I posted. My mom used to say that sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. Not true. I guess we’re all sensitive to different words, depending on who we are or who we care about. Maybe I’m naïve, but wouldn’t it be a better world if we could all be kinder, more sensitive, more careful with our words, and kids didn’t need to learn whether or not a word was okay?
