It's Rachel's birthday, shout HOORAY!!

It's my beautiful sis-in-law's birthday today and we did something special for her. Before I tell you about what we did, I want to tell you about the birthday girl.

Rachel is everything you hope your brother will find in a wife. She is capable, fun, outgoing, adaptable, honest, talented and happy. She does whatever it takes to get the job done. She and Tim moved to Detroit (far away from both of their families) and Rachel has made the best of it-- and then some. In fact, Rachel doesn't want to be anywhere she isn't. She is a wonderful mother (expecting baby girl #2), a fantastic sister and a better wife than any of us ever thought Tim would ever deserve. Sorry, Tim.. the truth hurts sometimes! Anyway, about what we did for her special day...

Our families are getting bigger, mine more so than Aaron's. The more people the merrier, but the harder it is to do something "special" for birthdays. It just doesn't seem logical- or economical- to buy gifts. Telephone calls are great.. (because at least we remembered, right?) But somehow that doesn't seem enough.

So, I think I've started a new family tradition... a REVOLUTION, if you will. About a week ago, I emailed my family three simple questions about Rachel and asked if everyone could respond. And then I organized the answers and posted them on her blog. Some families send their siblings hundreds of dollars for their birthday. The Clawsons like to save our money and send a few compliments. I believe ALL WOMEN want to be recognized and complimented on their birthday. Am I right or am I right?

If you want to see the final product of our efforts (when in fact, it was so easy.. everyone should start their own family birthday revolution) head on over to Rachel's blog HERE. and don't stress about the fact that my entire family makes fun of poor little Timmy. He has the #1 sense of humor in the bunch... if you're not counting me, that is.

I loved that! Our family is getting chaotically huge & we deal with the same issue. GREAT idea!
