The Cupcakes for Cancer (Race for Greg Downer) is fast approaching!
A few days ago, I copied and pasted a letter about the race, but I didn't tell you about my dear friend and neighbor, Leigh Ann. She is expecting baby #5 in January. She lost her mother less than a year ago. She homeschools her children, sews, and even rotates her food storage! Her husband plays the organ in church and he's a clerk in the bishopric (meaning she single-handedly gets her kids ready for 8 am church). Talk about a WONDER WOMAN! Two months ago, on Labor Day, I wrote about our difficult day but said we went to bed feeling grateful because our friends had spent the day in the hospital with their oldest son who had his appendix removed. A few days later, test results came back and they found out that Greg, their 6 year old son, has cancer (Burkitt’s Lymphoma). During the past two months, he has completed two treatments of chemotherapy and has spent a lot of time in the hospital due to high fevers and infection. This wonderful family has been so strong and inspiring. I truly feel grateful to know them and we are proud to be a part of this race. If you live in Las Vegas, please come and run with us!
