We were going to buy a house down the street from the house we now live in. After our offer was excepted, I just didn't feel right about it. Not because the price wasn't right or because it wasn't big enough for our family... but because it didn't have a BATHTUB in the master bathroom. It had a nice big shower, but no bathtub. This bothered me and I shared my "concerns" with Aaron several times. Eventually we decided that it would be worth it to make an offer on the house that we now live in. We had a wait an entire month... and it cost $38,000 more the the house without a bathtub.. but I was happy about the decision. And when mama is happy, the whole family is happy, right? Right.
Now, whenever I take a bath, my husband asks the same question: "How is your $38,000 bathtub?" And each time he asks, the prices of my bathtub gets higher. He rounded up to $40,000.. and then a week later it was $50,000. Yesterday he asked me how I liked my $60,000 bathtub. I just stuck out my tongue at him because we both know this house is not only much bigger than the other house, but it was the right decision for everyone.
Yesterday I took a wonderful, relaxing bath in my expensive tub. I locked the door and blasted my favorite Christmas music. I didn't have anything distracting me. So I was very puzzled when I got out of the tub to realize that ONE of my legs still had long, prickly hairs on it and the other was so buttery soft... in fact, it was so soft, I am pretty sure I shaved it TWICE. Am I that ditsy or distracted to shave one leg twice and not the other one at all? Apparently I am.
Later that night, Aaron and I went on a date (dinner and Christmas shopping for the kids.) He was playing with my hair like he never has before.. throughout the car ride and during dinner. This is very rare because Aaron isn't the kind of husband who plays with his wife's hair.. especially during dinner. At the end of the night, I made a casual comment like, "I really like it when you play with my hair. You should do it more often!" He responded with, "I really like when you bathe. You should wash your hair more often."

not this cute anymore!

That is hilarious. And so much like Ben it makes me laugh harder.
Ah....husbands. They always know just the right thing to say....
The tub was totally worth the price!
where is the picture of you in the bath tub?? so glad you went with the bath tub. it's a must! jason plays with my hair ALL the time. in fact he doesn't like to cuddle really or hold hands just play with my hair...
A hot bath is priceless.... Some days I think I would give my right lung for nice soak in the tub.
Wait til your husband asks if you forgot how to wear make up.
That sounds like something my husband would say about the bath tub...
It's a must in my house also! (we spend way too many a date nights in the tub to loose it now!!!) Good for you, I'd make mine sleep on the couch for that comment too!!! :)
LOL! That's all I can say!
:D
A nice, big bathtub will also be in my long-term home. I hate not having a tub to soak in. It's not fun having a small tub that I can't enjoy bubbles in. Plus, kids think they are swimming without the swimming pool!
Money well spent.
For some reason I prefer a hot steamy shower over a soak in the tub. Women are supposed to love bubble baths (as evidenced in your comments section) and I feel kinda weird that I don't fit the mold...
That was an awesome and funny post! : )
Allison, we stayed in Park City once and had this awesome shower that was an enclosed glass room with a steam vent and a bench...heavenly...I'd prefer a shower if I could have that every day too! I don't think you should feel weird- I just like to use the time in the tub to read and be by myself...that's what it's all about for me, you probably have a different outlet! :)
(Sorry I'm responding to your comments Janet...)
So funny. Hopefully someday we will be able to get a place with a real bathtub... not just one of those small and straight side ones that give you a crick in the neck. Have a merry christmas!!
this is hilarious! i love it. made my night end with a good laugh. i have never shaved the same leg twice, but if it makes you feel better, i have only shaved one and forgotten completely about the other one.
ha! you always know how to perfectly end your blog posts. or how to end a situation, either way. If only shaving the one leg twice would guarantee those hairs wouldn't return for twice as long...
Fun post, janet. :)
THE only thing better than buying a house with a bathtub in it is buying that house then installing a second bathtub in the basement! Okay so my brother installed it, but I still feel pretty proud of myself for picking it out and watching it get carried down the stairs and installed--what an inflated sense of accomplishment I have!!!
My husband doesn't play with my hair!!:(
So if my Evan is anything like your Aaron, maybe I should try to wash it ;P
Janet - my husband thinks the same about my hair. I wash it twice a week. Sunday and Wednesday. It is better for your hair and when you have kids watching you shower, you try to finish up as fast as you can. Especially when one is saying, "Big tummy mommy!"
For the record--I was seriously just going to take a bubble bath in our very SMALL tub, and I got caught up looking through blogs. Of course now I'm wishing I had a $38,000 bathtub. Take a bubbly one for me!
you're a good mom... you deserve it! hope the christmas cards went well. i ended up sending twice as many as i thought i would... hope you didn't end up sending 400!
It's worth it for the tub- although I always have chocolate next to me while in my bubble bath!
