Our kids struggle with the Santa thing.. Well, I shouldn't say KIDS, I should say KID. Ben is the party-pooper in the family and has to think LOGICALLY. I hate it. After MUCH convincing (or lying, if you will) he's decided that Santa really does exist... but he doesn't want to sit on Santa's lap unless it's the REAL one... because all those guys at the mall are impostors. Last year, we didn't take pictures with Santa and it was devastating for the whole family :) This year, because we have Alvin, we thought we'd use a little Elf Magic.
Last week, ALVIN left a note for the boys saying that THE REAL Santa is coming to the Silverton Casino for one day... because I had heard from several people

On the way home, Ben said, "You know... I just don't think that was the REAL Santa. His beard was too short and his glasses didn't look right. His face was skinny and his belly was puffy, but not really fat. And he just wasn't that nice to all the kids. I think the REAL Santa would be a lot more excited to see us than that guy was." I didn't know what to say but "Maybe Alvin the Elf LIES!" Aaron pinched me before the kids heard. So even though the pictures turned out cute, my theory is that FREE Santa's suck. But let's be honest, I don't think there is a Santa out there that could meet Ben's expectations... except maybe the real one who lives in the North Pole. When Reindeer's fly, kid.

not this cute anymore!

My Dad was a free Santa one year at a care center party... and you know my dad... not really the Santa typle... Everyone complained that he wasn't jolly enough, and they sent him home early. Yes, free Santas are probably lacking... :)
I was pretty bummed about the Santa there too. Just not "Santa-like" enough for me. At least your kids sat on his lap! Mya wouldn't go near him! (The santa at the Fashion Show Mall is really great! But they charge major bucks for pictures.)
I love Zach's picture - such a cutie! And Ben sure is a smarty - thank goodness for a mom that will lie to keep the spirit of Santa alive! Way to go Mom!!
I have the most darling grandsons! I'm so blessed! I miss you all. My father always thought it would be fun to be Santa, so after he retired, he was a mall Santa just for fun for a couple of years and he loved it...his wife was Mrs. Santa just for fun, too, and they had a GREAT time...he's just the real Santa type...I miss him, too, and I wish he could have known you, Janet, and the boys...he would love you, too!
There's Aaron pinching again! I love Ben's analysis, he really thinks it all through. Sheesh! Good luck-I would've probably busted the secret by that point and ruined childhood Christsmases forever. :) Your kids look adorable in their pictures. I LOVE the last one!
I think Ben and Jayben have the same logical thinking. Jayben should be in his prime of Santa and instead he analyzes all the differences in each Santa he sees.
Oh well. The pics are cute. But I agree, his beard is a little short.
I saw that Santa, and I thought he was pretty good for being a "free Santa". At least he didn't have a fake beard. And you're right - all of these pictures are adorable.
I love the pics. That Santa does have the smile down though. The kids look happy? The Santa thing is tough. I wanted to believe sooo bad that finally my parents sat me down at the ripe old age of TWELVE amd said " Come On Lauene, really." I was so sad and have been ever since.
