Wintersong..

What is your very favorite Christmas Album EVER? I mean, if you were on a desert island celebrating the Holidays by yourself and could only bring ONE CD, which would you choose? Could you actually narrow it down to ONE SONG? I think I can.

Many of you know this about me already, but Sarah McLachlan DOES IT FOR ME. I absolutely love her and think she is the most talented musician of our time, MJ taking a close second. Her Christmas album, Wintersong, would come with me on the dessert island. Although I love the fun upbeat songs on the radio, it's the slow serene songs that I love.. and Sarah's album is full of them. This is the CD that makes me want to curl up with some hot cocoa and a good Christmas book, or someone who's read one.

For your listening convenience, I put together a special playlist of her Christmas album. Take a listen, and then go to Target and buy it for $10. If I had to chose only ONE song to listen to on this album, it would be I'll be Home for Christmas.

Now talk amongst yourselves... er... comment and tell me what's YOUR favorite all time Christmas CD. I really NEED to know.

ps. Don't you just LOVE this time of year???
Please December S.L.O.W. D.O.W.N.!!!

Now that is just too funny. I read the first line of your post on my google reader, and before I got any further, I was already saying, "That's easy, Sarah Mac's Christmas album." I love that you love Sarah, because I super love Sarah myself. I went to her concert once and it was so beautiful that I offered her my biggest compliment by crying through the entire thing. She's fabulous!

Aaron surprised me with tickets to Sarah's concert... which just happened to be in the middle of finals during his first year of law school. it was the BEST SURPRISE EVER. It was seriously a spiritual experience for me.

Loved the playlist. I haven't heard this album at all and it is fabulous. Deana Carter has an awesome Christmas album. Reminds me of playing with my sisters at Christmastime and has that same "cuddle-up" effect. Very good, a must get.

Sorry. The album is called "Father Christmas."

Lace- My husband loves Harry too.. He may love it enough to take it on the island by himself, either that or Mariah Carey's christmas. I will make him decide.

and Linds- I have Deana Carter's one upon a christmas on my other playlist.. the green one. I don't own her Christmas album, but I love her!

Roger Whittiker! My dad has sung Tiny Angels to his kids for as long as I can remember. Every time he does he crys. Now when I hear it and think about my kids on Christmas I cry too! It is a special song for our family! I love Wintersong too!

i woould have to say Harry Connick Jr. too. I could take HIM with me on the island. Then he could sing to me himself while I just stare...

The ones that bring back the most memories from when I was little are The Chipmunks, The Carpenter's and The Oakridge Boys. Anytime I hear songs from them I am 8 again dancing in the kitchen with my Mom. I LOVE IT! But I am a fan of Sarah. I need to get this CD. It's awesome!

I'm sitting here while working on my book listening to this album. I love it! I've never heard it before, and Sarah is a favorite of mine too. I love choral music at Christmas time. I sang in so many choirs, and I miss that music big time. I don't know if I have a favorite album. I just love hearing it, and being a part of it. I can't wait until this book is finished! Thanks for your help earlier. :-)

I love this album, but I think Bing Crosby would be one of my other favorites. It has lots of memories...playing in the car while we drive over snow-filled mountain passes to get to Grandma's house... my mom with her one hand clenching the back of the seat and the other holding onto the roof of the car like it might fly off, saying, "Slow down, Dan!"...my dad cursing at other drivers who "don't know how to drive in the snow" and telling my mom to relax... Us kids singing along to Bing amongst the inevitable "he's touching me!" and "I have to go to the bathroom!"... Ah, the memories!

Good 'ol Harry Connick, or (yeah i'm gonna say it ) Elvis. Brings back serious memories from when I was little. Also a big fan of the Polar Express soundtrack. OOOOhhh and we have a children's choir one I LOVE. Alright don't make me pick, it's stressing me out.

Jewel. I think Val introduced it to me at Ricks? Or was it you? I'm also a fan of the Josh Groban C-mas CD.

Bing Crosby, Josh Groban, and Celine Dion all have FABULOUS christmas albums that help get me in the christmas mood. I also grew up with The Maneheim Steamrollers (sp?) Christmas album playing all the time.
I agree- PLEASE, please, please December slow down!
