I made manicotti for dinner. It was super cheesy, just the way Daddy likes it. We ate by candlelight and gave a toast to Grandmother who gave birth 34 years ago. We had rootbeer in our champagne glasses. And then we busted out the traditional rainbow sprinkle cake. Aaron requests it each year.
The boys helped him blow out the candles and when we turned the lights back on, I was afraid the smoke alarm would ring and wake the baby-- and freak out our puppy. 34 candles looks like a miniature forest fire.
Dad cut the cake and I took a picture of Scar Face (aka Luke) who split his forehead on the trampoline last night.
Maybe we are terrible parents for butterflying the awful cut instead of taking him in to get stitches, but I think he's going to turn out just fine. I feel a little sad that his forehead will be forever changed, but I think he will sport the scar nicely. His face is handsome enough.
While eating cake and vanilla ice cream, Aaron told me he came up with a New Year's resolution for himself, but I would never guess it. I tried listing the most outrageous things I could possibly think of, but I never came close. He said he wants to start his own blog in 2011. I practically spit my cake out. I told him he would never actually do it, and he said that reverse psychology won't work on him, which made me laugh even harder. I would be absolutely thrilled if he started some kind of online journal for himself, but I am slightly worried he's having a mid-life crisis. The boys just came back from walking the dog. We still don't know what to call her. Why is naming a puppy harder than naming a child? Padme is out. Sunny is still a maybe, but we've also played around with Jo, Cleo, Honey, Mona, and Dixie. I think Dixie would be awesome because it's the name of one of Aaron's ex-girlfriends. In fact, I am going to try to sell it to the kids tomorrow. Anyone have any better suggestions?

not this cute anymore!

Are those sprinkles or is that rainbow chip frosting. I adore rainbow chip frosting. It has to be over chocolate cake though.
I think Aaron will be a great blogger. Can't wait!
I'm giggling at the Dixie idea! :)
Sprinkle cake (white) with rainbow chip frosting... I've never tried it with chocolate. I don't dare.
Unfortunately there aren't many girl star wars names.
Mallatobuck is the name of Chewbacca's wife, from the Star Wars holiday special. You could call her Malla.

you crack me up.
since she is a golden retriever you could call her "Lello" like Jake calls his favorite yellow blankie. yes, his blankie now has a name. Pitiful, I know.
Sorry about Luke's head! Every boy looks more handsome with a scar to show off, right?
And happy 34th to Aaron! He beat me by 6 months. And if he is having a mid-life crisis, at least if he is blogging about it you'll know all the turmoil he is going through! cheaper than buying a sports car!
