Poolside

We LOVE summer and don't want it to end! We are swimming almost everyday because it's still hot, hot, hot. Yesterday we took some friends (Isa and Carter) to the pool with us. We packed lunch and had a picnic poolside. I usually bring a book and let the kids wear themselves out. It's the only way to live, yo.

Here's Zack finishing up his yogurt. He is a crazy man at home, but not at the pool.. which makes it so much easier for me to relax. He splashes around on the kiddie steps, plays in the shade, or pulls up a chair and watches the kids swim. Only once did he jump into the deep end without me to catch him and I think it scared him enough to never do that again.
I also got classic footage of Ben giving Luke a ride on his back... in the pool. Mind you, Luke weighs about the same as Ben and neither of them can touch in the 4 feet. After two unsuccessful attempts in the deeper area, they moved to the lower steps. Now, I started this video a long time after they began.. and I just kept thinking they were going to stop, but I guess Ben is an energizer bunny. I was so entertained by this so sorry if the filming isn't as good as it should be, I just couldn't stop myself from laughing.

They definitely know how to have a good time... I heard Ben tell the kids to get on a layout pool mat and to fasten their seatbelts because they were about to go on an exciting tour of insects. Then he says, "Hi, my name is Ben and I will be your tour guide today. If you look on your left, you will see an amazing dragonfly." The other kids said, "Where?" Ben says, "Just use your imagination, okay? And on your right there is a beautiful butterfly." I just sat and watched with a big smile.

Other random quotes from my kids:

Luke: Ben, that 'cannon bomb' was SO big that it almost splashed all my hair off!

Ben: Doesn't this ride feel exactly like a Boga ride? (from Star Wars)

Zack: Oh NO! Shoes fall off! or 'Shoes wet.' (He's starting to combine several words, which is new for him.)

I posted a few other short clips on our home video page. If you want to watch Ben's "penguin swim" or a "brother's jump" into the pool, click on the home videos in the right column.

How fun! I love the pool too. So relaxing, takes most of the day and the kids are dog tired when you get home!

No pools here - your posts about time spent pool-side are the only thing (besides my family, of course) that make me feel like I'm missing out not living in Vegas. We're up to the 80's this week and I feel like I could jump in a pool all afternoon; this is so hot for me! :)
