The media fast is over...

If I could sum in up, it was probably one of the worst weeks of my life! Not because I didn't get to read everyone's blogs or watch my favorite movies, but because we all got terribly sick. I haven't been this sick in a LONG time. And when you don't feel well, you just want to cuddle up and watch a good movie, ya know? But I was strong and found other things to do! We read lots of good books, made gingerbread houses and TONS of Christmas crafts, went to a wedding, made sugar cookies, took our van in for repairs, delivered gifts to neighbors, and had two date nights in a row (one of which was Aaron's firms' Christmas party at Roy's..our favorite Hawaiian cuisine.) You probably wouldn't guess that we were all terribly sick, but when you can't sit around and chill, you find something else to do. And let me tell you, getting up and showering every morning definitely helps when you aren't feeling well. I would recommend it to everyone.

So-- the week went by quickly and although there wasn't any real spiritual enlightenment... but today it hit me all at once. Sacrament meeting was probably the best Church meeting I have EVER been to.. it was a real worshiping experience for me. I cried my eyes out and I feel so blessed for all that I have. I think being sick is the only thing that makes me humble.. and having a week of silence made me realize how much excess I am carrying around. I really want to simplify my life and stay focused on what is really important. A couple of days ago, I heard a quote asking what you would do during your day if you knew it was going to be your last--and ironically, I thought that this is exactly how I would want to spend my time. No outside distractions--just spending a QUIET day with my family, enjoying the ordinary day-to-day things... really being able to pay attention to one another. If only life could be this simple.

Hey there fellow blogger- I found you through Kate's blog. I must agree with you about sacrament meeting today- despite the distractions with the kids, it was decidedly one of my FAVORITE sacrament meetings of all time! When I saw you after my eyes were welling up with tears & to keep myself from bawling I simply nodded at your comment- I hope it didn't seem rude. :) I LOVE the 100 things about you on the side of your blog- what a fantastic & insightful idea!!
