let the training begin!

So today was the first day of training... Kelly, Kate, Rachel and I will be running
the Bryce Canyon HALF MARATHON in July
and we were up bright and early this morning!
Five miles (well, actually only 4.5 miles) kicked our butts-- I cannot imagine going THIRTEEN, but we will get there--especially under Jane's training! She is prego and won't be running, but she was there to cheer us on this morning... with water and gatorade at the mile marks.. what a great coach! I am so glad she talked us into doing this!
This is us halfway through... and was taken right after Rachel took a nap on the pavement! It was cold this morning and we needed earmuffs. But we are motivated and will be looking hot and sexy in our bikini's this summer after our intense training! I am really so excited to be doing this-- especially with such crazy, fun girls! And my new running shoes are awesome!!

YAY!! Congrats on your running. I'm anxious to hear all about your training and all about your 1/2 marathon. I have another blog about my attemps to start running marathons again. I'm registered for a 1/2 in May, but have been quite unsuccessful in my training. I think that having a group of friends to run with is a great way to get out there. CONGRATS!

Awesome Janet!! I can't wait to hit the trails with our dog. I love running, but not in the cold. Dave and I are in training to get summer ready, too.
Love new running shoes...got some Christmas and can't wait to try them out. If you ever come up for a visit give me call and I'll go running with ya! It's always better when you got buddies.
Have fun!!!

Good for you! I am jealous of your ambition. I keep saying I will do something and get in shape, but I just can't seem to really do it. A day here and there just doesn't quite count! Sounds fun you've got great girls to run with. I think that is always the best motivation! And good luck at Bryce Canyon in July! Holy hot weather (although you Vegas girls won't think anything of it, I'm sure).

How fun/motivating. That is so nice to have a group to go with. That probably motivates you to push yourself. I need a workout group. I'm not very consistent on when I work out. I really want to do the Burley Triathlon, but we shall see:)
Good Luck with the 1/2 marathon. Tell me how it "works out."

I just signed up for a 5k & you're running that (& then some) on your first day of training. Way to go! You'll have to let us know how the training goes. I have zero motivation to run a half marathon or marathon. It just seems like such a huge time commitment. A bikini bod for the summer IS quite motivating though.... :)
