A: Father and Son camp outs
That's right. I had a completely quiet, blissfully serene and wonderfully childless Friday night. The only thing that I would have changed is making the camp out the entire WEEK rather than just one night. What's up with that? I think most dads need a little more bonding time with their boys.. in fact, I am sure of it. Here's the short list of what I during my aloneness.
Went on a long run in Red Rock canyon. Painted my toenails. Cleaned out and under my stove and fridge. Walked slowly down every isle of the grocery store.. just because. painted the walls back to white. Locked the front door a HUNDRED times. cleaned the toilets. Went Tanning.
Killed a cockroach all by myself...Took a LONG bubble bath (and shaved BOTH legs) Deep cleaned the carpet stains. Went to the bathroom in peace-- for once! Cursed during the terribly disappointing Jazz game :( and YES I watch sports even without any boys around.) Stayed up late watching a sappy chick flick and cried because I was so happy. Slept in!

It's amazing what you can get done without grimey kids tugging at your ankles.
It was absolutely HeaVenLy.
Here's to next year's Father and Sons!

If Aaron remembered to take any pictures at the camp out, I will be sure to post them.

Sounds completely blissful. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
Ya! I'm glad you got the long run it...lucky!
Sounds like you took advantage of your "time-off." Love it!
Wow - that's awesome! But - Shame on you for tanning!
Holy cow! You got a lot done in a night. I know it is actually hard for you to have a night ALONE but good job for making the best of it!
Do you usually just shave one leg?
It's funny how we don't realize how easy our lives were before kids. Seriously, what I wouldn't do to walk slowly through the grocery store.
Holy crap, did you really do all that stuff in ONE NIGHT? Including painting the walls? You are productive. I would've sat around and watched Top Chef reruns all night.
All I can say is you are AWESOME! Way to be organized enough to get al that done. I am all for Week long Fathers and sons outing ,I would just be worried that someone might not make it back,...and no it wouldn't be one of the kids. i hope you feel renewed.
I also don't believe you did all of that in one evening and morning. But good for you! And did you lock the door 100 times because you had that many visitors or because you were scared??
I totally believe you did all that in one night because you are the most PRODUCTIVE and CAPABLE person I know. So glad you have all boys!
That honestly sounds blissful. I'll pray for another boy for my next one:)
I loved the mother's day blog. I with I could get payed for this job. I also loved learning more about your cute and crazy boys.
to answer your questions:
It was actually about 24 hours that this occurred.. not just a few. I went running at Red Rock on Friday morning-ish, then tanning, then grocery shopping.. in the afternoon, I cleaned toilets and under the fridge, etc. by dinner time, I was cleaning carpets and painting walls (not the whole place.. just over all zack's masterpieces.)
Sometimes while in the bathtub, I am not always lucky enough to shave both legs..
I locked the door a hundred times because I was scared, not because I had visitors.. although we did have visitors late Friday night, which I will get around to posting to.
The chick flick I watched (in answer to Lisa's email) was In Her Shoes.. I have seen it before and I love it. It always makes me cry. Cameran Diaz and Toni Collette play sisters who are complete opposites.. it makes you laugh and cry.
Gosh.. I thought I was sparing everyone by reporting the details, but apparently that doesn't really work!
You do get a week off, in about ten years, it will be called Young Men's Camp. Start making a list now, think of all the things you'll get done in a week!
how did you do all that in one night! sounds amazing!
Ah, to go to the bathroom in peace. It's a luxury that you don't realize is a luxury until it's gone. I think just that alone would make a night to yourself worth it-- Well that and the chick flick. :-) Glad you had fun!
You lucky girl, you! Somehow I have so far missed the bliss of being home all alone--Brandon is usually working when they have the campout. I'm not sure why I haven't bothered to address this before, but be sure this year I will make sure he gets the day covered so he can take them. What I could do with 24 hours all by myself! The possibilities are endless. It looks like you had a fabulous day of pampering and deep cleaning (which I know seems weirdly satisfying, especially when it isn't messed up about 30 seconds later!). Glad you had fun and your boys made it home in one piece!
Great post. Maybe I can convince Danny to take Cole this year...if he really loves me--he will.
