birthday festivities

Zack had a fantabulous birthday.. he didn't exactly say that, but I'm his mother and can practically read his mind. It was a busy day full of visiting teaching appointments and grocery shopping. I know, very exciting.. but the kid is 2 and doesn't know any different.

We had a little dino party for him after dinner with a few friends from the neighborhood. He opened a TON of presents- thanks to both sets of grandparents! The picture grid is proof of our CRAZY time.

At the end of the night, Luke said, "That party was so fun that I wish we could open presents until Zack turns 4." Obviously someone is liking the new toys.

p.s. Zack's second birthday was a thousand times better than his first... 5 days after we moved to Vegas, our power was turned off and we had to head elsewhere for dinner and birthday cake. Only Kelly can really understand what I am talking about.. but take my word for it, his birthdays are getting better and better... I can only imagine how much fun next year will be.

Wow, what a bunch of hams! I love it. That cake was awesome. Boy, Zack has some birthday loving Grand Parents. What would we do without them. Don't you love how the older ones immediatly stake their claim on the presents. It does get better every year, although 3&4 are my favorite years. They are just in pure wonderment

Oh yes and I do understand. It is still by far one of my favorite stories to tell. Although spending your birthday in a dinosaur costume screams "good time."

love the dino cake...and the faces you guys made for the pictures. Looks like a lot of fun.
I always hated having a January birthday because it was just after Christmas and my parents didn't have any money left. Also, what is there to do in January? You can only go sledding so many times (we grew up where there was lots of snow)

How did you make that cool dino cake? I need some cool cake ideas for my cubscout aged boys. They have the blue and gold banquet coming up next month and have to make a cake for it. Have any other neat cakes up your sleeve?
