kid conversation keepers

Today has just been one of those amusing days.. where the kids were constantly saying things that made me smile. These are ALL from today, believe it or not.

Ben: Luke, I have a great idea. If you want to be a paleontologist like me, then we should totally work at the same museum!

Luke: That IS a great idea, Benny!

Ben: I have a joke for you, Mom.

Me: Let's hear it.

Ben: What is tall, nice and says "ouch?"

Me: OUCH! (after Ben pinched me hard on the arm.)

Ben: See I told you!

While I was cooking dinner, all three boys were running around in circles with blankets on their heads.. (whatever entertains) from under the blankets, I hear--

Ben: Isn't this a really fun game?

Luke: This is the funnest game I've ever played. Well, it's not really. But it's the funnest game you've ever made up!

Then a few minutes later... still with blankets on their heads.

Luke: Stop running so fast. When I run that fast, my pants fall down.

Ben: That's not really my problem, is it?

During dinner---

Ben: So Dad, how was your day at work? (this has become a regular question.. and Ben always acts SO interested..)

Dad: It was pretty good.

Ben: Did you bring home some money?

Dad: um.. what do you want to buy?

Ben: Some vibrating chairs. you know, like the kind we see at the mall.

Me: Why do you want a vibrating chair?

Ben: So I can sit in it. Do you guys know what vibrating means?

Dad: Yes.. we know what that means. Would you rather buy a vibrating chair or save money for a new house?

Ben: I guess a new house.

Luke: I would rather have the chairs.

And a minute later.. still eating dinner..

Luke: Does anyone feel like moving to Maine?

Ben: How about Florida?

Luke: Yeah! That would be cool! Then I could ride on an alligator.

Ben: Luke, you are not going to be able to ride on an alligator until AFTER Jesus comes! (as if he has told him SO many times already.)

And little Zack's quote of the day: "OH MY GOSS!" said at least 30 times already.
We've got to break him of this one. "That's AWESOME!" is much more pleasant.

Luke: Mom, which sound is annoying-er.

Me: I'd rather not have this conversation. Go ask Daddy.

Seriously, it's only 8 pm and I am wiped out!! Some days are just more exhausting (and more entertaining) than others. But these are the days... I am telling you! Why would any mother want to be working when she could be at home listening to this?

Yessss, first to comment! I literally just spit all over my screen reading those. My favorites: "do you guys know what vibrating means?" and "Luke, you are not going to be able to ride on an alligator until AFTER Jesus comes!" wow...I'm still chuckling to myself.

Seriously, so hillarious! Oh I hope I have 3 boys some day. You make it look so easy, and so funny! Your boys should be on TV with some of the stuff they come up with. Please tell me you write it all down somewhere. This is my favorite post of yours for sure.

So funny. I love listening to the way they connect their thoughts! What great kids. Sorry about the marked up wall by the way...what a bummer. But he is SO CUTE! :)

oh, I wish I could remember all the things Brinley says throughout the day. I always think I am going to remember it, and then i go on to the next thing. I just need to carry around a notebook...

Such smart little guys you have there Janet! And so funny too! I can see why you love your job as mom so much. I can't wait for my little girl to start saying real words - for now she has her own language that is so cute!

Cute. That is funny because COrtland insists on saying. "Oh my ga." Which is a lot worse. I am trying to break him of it or at least finish the word and say something like goss or gosh. I cringe everytime he says it!

Cute - those are the best things to write down and remember. Its fun to look back and really get a feel for the personalities. I like the comment about not riding on an alligator until AFTER Jesus comes - I can totally picture the tone of voice too. Classic!

The tall and nice joke is my favorite too. Lately, I'm exhausted by 7:00. Some days are exhausting but so fulfilling especially when your little ones are sleeping peacefully and you have a chance to recooperate for the next CRAZY day!

I love it! It is amazing how you can be ready to strangle them one moment and the next you just can't stop laughing! Your boys are so cute and so imaginative! I love hearing their quotes and I'm glad you post them because you have inspired me to do better at writing down the funny things my kids say. Just today Ethan said, out of the blue, "Are Ben and Luke our neighbors, Mom?" When I told him they were our friends but not our neighbors, he said, "Well we should move by them so they can be our neigbors." He still loves your kids even though he hasn't seen them for like 9 months!

This one made me laugh out loud again. Kam and I get a kick out of what your boys come up with. They sure have creative minds!! I love the dinner conversation!
Jake's sleeping is getting way better at night. Yay! One question... What should I do if he is really ready for a nap, I put him down, he falls asleep, and 20 to 30 minutes later he wakes up. I KNOW he is still tired at this time, but I don't want to make him cry for an hour after sleeping. I know he needs to learn to take longer naps. What do you think?
Thanks again for your advice. I REALLY appreciate it.
