sunny and me

This morning, Zack handed me a picture he drew of the "girls" in the family.
We never officially named her Sunny, but it's what we've fallen back on since we can't come to a unanimous decision. I believe it's here to stay. She is a darling little puppy (much cuter than Zack's interpretation) and we all adore her. How could you not love that face???
A couple of times while out running with her in the mornings, I will see our shadows and think, "That CANNOT be me. Is that really me, running with a dog?" And I find it hilarious that my family members are shocked when they ask how things are going and I respond positively. My mom and sister said to their husbands (while still talking to me) "Hey! Janet's going to keep the dog!" As if they expected me to give her up after a week.. I've never been an animal lover before (and I am still not) but when they are your own, it's different. She's a lot of work, but when you sacrifice for someone/thing, you learn to love and appreciate them more. I did a LOT of soul-searching and a LOT of reading (specifically on her breed) before we made the decision to get her. It wasn't a last minute thing. It's been a long process and I am so glad I finally caved in! Needless to say, we are definitely keeping her...
A big thanks to Val for taking these photos. She lives down the street from my parents and was able to meet Sunny the day after Christmas... I wish she would stay this little forever!

She is really the SWEETEST thing too. I was prepared for something terrible, but it's been so much fun.

Since we actually got to see her in person, I have to say she really is one of the cutest puppies I've ever seen. Do you see what you've turned me back into? A blogging freak. I'm still not as good as you, but one day I will come over and get some real lessons. I'm still working on 2010! Let's not let a whole year go by again before we actually let our boys play together!

A little angel...It's good that you did research on finding the right dog. We went through 4 dogs before finally finding the right one. We've had 2 Labs. One was given to us and then the owner wanted her back. Then the other was too energetic and dug holes all over the yard. We sold him. Next we had a pound dog, Hound mix, she broke out everyday and ran off. We took her back to the pound. The next one was a Westie and she nipped at William. We sold her to a neighbor. Then finally we got a Beaglier and he is our Buddy. He is sleeps most of the day and has moments of energy where he plays with the kids. We found that a mellow dog works best for our family.

Your right dogs are a lot of work, but when you find one you love, they are easy to take care of.

Good Luck and enjoy running with her. I always feel safer when I run with my dog.
