I am in the process of planning a MINUTE TO WIN IT ward activity. The kids and I have been doing our research... I have a LOOOONG list of games and a long list of household items we need to collect in order to compete. It's gonna be so much fun!! Over the breakfast table at 6:45 am this morning, my family competed in Bobble Head... a game where a pedometer is connected to a sweatband-- which is strapped to your head. The winner must bob their head as fast as possible to get as many hits on the pedometer. Zack bobbed his head 52 times in 60 seconds. Ben came in second with 125. Luke scored 132... and I barely beat Luke with 137. We better start practicing if we want to be on the show-- they average around 170. That is some major head movement, if you ask me. Don't know what I am talking about? Watch this:
Kate and I are going to do a mock
Minute to Win It competition
this coming Monday at the church with our families (we'll mix a highly spiritual FHE lesson in there somewhere.) If you want to be a part of it, let me know and we'll collect enough household items for you and your family to compete too. And Coronado ward members, stay tuned for an exciting (and hilarious) ward party.....
Have you seen the show? Tried any of the games at home? If so, let me know which ones are your faves.

My family loves watching this game show. We get excited about the egg roll with a pizza box. We do not like the ping pong ball games as much.
I wish I was in your neighborhood. I am sure you've thrown some kick-butt parties. This sounds like a riot.
steph- you guys should totally drive down on Monday night and challenge us to an egg roll competition. come on down!
and forrest- I still can't believe you read my blog..... or comment.
We LOVE the "junk in the trunk" competition. I've always wanted to try it with my family. It's so funny to watch people do it on TV! what an awesome ward party that will be!!!!!!!
Junk in the Trunk is about the only ping-pong ball competition that is fun to watch. Bobble-Head with my kids this morning was way funnier than I thought it would be. I should have recorded it on video. 60 seconds is a long time when you're shaking your head. I can only imagine how funny Junk in the Trunk will be. My husband has that one in the bag. He's got moves....
wish you were closer, Becky!
Great idea! Count us in for FHE, especially since we're not Coronadians anymore. We can bring whatever you need, so as not add more to your load.
I haven't seen much of this show, but I thought the apple-stacking one was pretty cool.
I can just see Rodney & Aaron competing with any ping-pong type event.
We are also going to do a ward activity based on this show... We can't pass it up. Please share what you end up doing and if you get some pics EVEN BETTER!
We just did this in OUR ward! IT.WAS.HILAREOUS!!! Ours was the single elimination version starting out with 10 people and losing one person each time. The cotton ball on the nose with vaseline, and the moving a cookie from your forhead to your mouth without using your hands ones were the funniest. Our activities committee took a ton of pics. They are taking pics at every ward activity to put together for a slide show for our ward Christmas party in December. Should be a good laugh!
I haven't ever seen the show, but I played the games with some of my friends last month. I GOT ALL SIX OF THEM. We did the cookie one, blowing the bubble all the way across the room, playing cards on four separate chairs, blowing all the cards off a bottle but one, and a couple others. It was way fun.
That video was awesome! I haven't ever seen this show but it looks super exciting! So, do people actually win a million dollars!?
I've thought about doing the single elimination with only 10 people because then we could do it on the stage and everyone can watch them. However, it only allows 10 people to play... And I want to get everyone involved, especially the kids. A lot of these competitions can be for the kids to play too (although I guess some of them can be in the final ten people.)
Anyway, what I think we will do is have lots of different stations around the gym and the TOP people will be the final 10 to go up on stage and do the finale... at least that's what I am thinking anyway. Sounds like lots of chaos and lots of fun!
Autumn-- no one has ever won the million bucks.. some of the challenges are just too hard to pass. But you better believe we'll have a million dollar prize for our big winner... like a gold medallion or monstrous trophy or something..
come to our thing on Monday-- and start recording the show. CBS on weds (I believe.. i don't know, I never watch it live.)
Oh my gosh!! So FUN! We did this about a month ago! You'll have to check my blog! We also did it again for Elliott's grad party, it was SO FUNNY! WE loved the KABROOM, it was our fave!!!!
Haha Janet, you're so funny, record it, we DON'T have cable or a DVR!! I know, how do we live!? Just kidding :) Anyways, I'll have to watch it when it comes on and see what's up. Looks fun!
You can count us in for FHE but it will probably just be me playing. The rest of my family isn't competitive...the kids get it from Jeff...I LOVE a little friendly competition :)
I've never seen the show, but I wish that I could be at that ward party!
Ashlee-- will you guys come on Monday? We need your expertise! The following monday we'll have to throw you guys a going away party :(
and Autumn, I know you have a computer... you can watch all the best clips online! We don't have cable, but we've got DVR... it's the best gig around. Only $10 a month, baby!
Some of the YW requested that we play this for an activity...I've never even seen it. You'll have to do a post about it once it's over to give us some ideas.
And...You guys have A TON of ward activities! I'm on our activities committee and we do nothing compared to you guys!
We would love to take on the challenge of beating your family at the egg roll, but we would definately be at a disadvantage after the 9 hour drive from our house to yours :P I don't remember how I found your blog so long ago, but sure glad I did.
(I found a ticket from our little airport to Vegas for $9.99 - Say WHAT! Maybe we will show up after all.)
Ha! I (obviously) thought you were a different Stephanie. 9.99 flight is hard to pass up, though!
Janet, you kill me with your amazing and crazy creativity. I don't watch tv, but I can't wait till you post some fun pictures of your activity. How is your head feeling? Didn't you get dizzy when you did that? I love your scanning idea. I need a scanner, so I can document all their fun notes and drawings in my computer, instead of in the binders.
